まちにまつわる記憶や物語をもとにつくられた、演劇まちあるき。前年に引き続き2回目となる2015年版は、地元の地域づくりを推進する「仏生山まちプランニングルーム」との共催で制作した。まちには出演者、音楽や照明など、多様な演劇的仕掛けが用意されている。参加者は２つのグループに分かれてガイドに導かれながらまちを探索し、様々な視点からのストーリーテリングを通じて、仏生山というまちを多声的に認識していく。
アーティストの滞在・地元の方々とのワークショップを経て制作される本作品では、１３人の出演者のうち、２人のパフォーマー（ダンサーと俳優兼ミュージシャン）を除く１１人が、仏生山で生まれた人、住む人、働く人など市井の人たちだ。彼らは個人的な物語の語り手として登場し、仏生山で暮らしながら経験した話を、実際のまちの中で語っていく。そして、彼らの語りや心のおく底にある想いが、観客のイマジネーションと重なり「作品」として上演されるとき、仏生山にいつもと違う風景が生まれていく。パラダイス仏生山は、まちを舞台にしてつくられた作品であると同時に、現実と作品との境界線で、まちに住む人・演劇を体験する人の「まちの見方」を変化させる試みでもある。
Paradise Busshozan is a series of performing arts walk consisted of stories and memories relating to the town. After our first creation in 2014, it has been projected in collaboration with Busshozan Town Planning Room, a voluntary group encouraging the revitalization of the town. There are various spatial interventions e.g. performers, music and lighting as stage effect set in the town as a theater. Audiences divide into two groups led by guides to explore the townscape, and realize the Busshozan town through narrative polyphony: storytelling from various perspectives by different individuals.
As it’s created through artist-in-residence and workshops with locals, 13 performers are all ordinary people who live, work, or were born in Busshozan expect two professionals – a dancer and an actor/musician. In the performance they are telling the audience their personal experiences within the town. When the stories and their unconscious minds have been performed and overlapped with actual townscape and audiences’ imagination, another scenery of Busshozan reveals itself. This theatrical experimentation aims not only to create the performance in the townscape but to give us an alternative perspective towards the town by pushing boundaries of reality and fiction.
